Unique training programme with work experience
We have intern places at our central London HQ this summer for young people about to start their A-Levels.
Be a reporter, editor and web publisher – all in one week with unicornjobs.com – an exciting new careers website
We are running a special 16+ training course at our Shoreditch HQ this summer, immediately after GCSEs, where you will be drilled in basic journalistic skills in an exciting deadline-driven environment.
As student Interns, you will research and write stories for our website. Each day will begin with editorial conference, where we will review that day’s papers and then you will be given your assignment for the day.
Full training will be given, including story writing, interviewing, sub-editing and communication skills workshops. There will also be the opportunity to interview people and learn about website production. We work on Apple Mac computers and will teach you the basics if you haven’t used one before.
You’ll also pick up office skills during your internship and have a chance to work on your CV – incorporating all the things you learn during your time with us, of course. The purpose of the programme is to prepare you for the workplace and to help you develop your CV. You will also have at least one published story on an established website at the end of your time here, plus a clutch of new skills. You will also have a better idea of career options and paths.
Our 16+ internship programme will run from Monday June 24 for a week and will be repeated from Monday June 30. Places are limited. The cost is £1,000 per week. Lunch will be provided. Sessions will run from 9am until 5.30pm. Our offices are between Liverpool Street and Old Street stations.
