So, what does everyone in PR do? Here are the kinds of job titles you’ll come across in a PR agency, and what those people do.

Account Assistant/Executive

  1. Daily administrative work.
  2. Feature writing.
  3. Providing support to the account managers.
  4. Distributing news releases that account managers develop.
  5. Sorting press clippings.
  6. Compile media distribution lists.

Senior Account Executive

  1. Often acts as account manager (see below) on the smaller accounts.
  2. Responsibility to client and team.

Account Manager

  1. Ensures the results are delivered.
  2. Oversees the workload of the team.
  3. Client comes to manager as 1st port of call.

Account Director

  1. Heads the strategic work.
  2. Manages the relationship with the client and ensures great performance.
  3. Ensures that the client is happy.
  4. Generates new business for the consultancy as well as being responsible for coaching the team.

Board Director

  1. Full responsibility for profit and loss.

Managing Director

  1. Running of the whole company.
