WEB & DESIGN: Operating a content management system; uploading material; processing photos; search engine optimisation; responding to user enquiries; basic image processing and desktop publishing skills.
SALES & MANAGEMENT: Running a media company; basic business development; brainstorming sales leads; updating sales databases; making sales calls; staffing the advertising desk; basic presentation design.
OFFICE MANAGEMENT: Managing a company database; processing invoices; chasing payments; managing a busy office; ordering office supplies; organising team events; staffing the main reception; finance and contact database skills.
MARKETING: Writing press releases; making and phoning PR contacts; liaising with student newspapers; ad design; sourcing competition prizes; writing subscriber newsletters; staffing the marketing department.
Interns will also attend in-depth careers workshops run by the unicornjobs.com recruitment team, and consultants and researchers from leading head hunting firm Taylor Bennett, which will equip each intern with practical skills. Workshops will range from CV writing, job interview techniques and networking skills, to seminars on the City and how it functions and a beginner’s guide to job packages.
