Young people who sign up to the unicornjobs.com internship and careers coaching programme will receive training from and get to work with leading journalists, business managers and careers specialists, as well as having access to the teams at the two companies behind the programme, leading recruitment firm Taylor Bennett and independent media company UnLimited Media.
Jackie Shorey
Jackie spent 18 years as a journalist at the Financial Times in London, commissioning and editing stories, designing pages and helping run the news desk. She was also heavily involved in the FT’s special projects, including the launch of Weekend Money and the Saturday magazine. Since 2002 Jackie has been working as a freelance writer and editor, working for clients as diverse as Ernst & Young and Wallpaper magazine, as well as teaching financial journalism to MBA students. Jackie has also worked extensively overseas, most recently in India at the Business Standard newspaper, with an editorial and consultancy remit which included running writing and editing workshops for journalistic staff and trainees.
Chris Cooke
Chris is a co-founder of UnLimited Media, and created two of its main media platforms, ThreeWeeks and CMU. Chris leads the ThreeWeeks training programmes, as well as overseeing the production, marketing and development of the title. Chris also co-edits the CMU Daily, the UK music business’ biggest and most popular daily news service, and as such is one of the country’s leading experts on the music and media industries, and regularly writes and speaks about both. He also heads up UnLimited’s content and marketing services division, devising and developing programmes for brands looking to engage consumers through content or culture. He has an MA in English Language from Edinburgh University.
Sarah Stimson
Sarah has more than five years of recruitment experience. Having previously worked in IT consultancy for IBM and Goldman Sachs, she made the move to recruitment in 2002 when she joined Taylor Bennett, the executive search firm, as IT support and discovered a love for research. In 2004 she joined Propsect Resourcing as a Consultant where she built a successful in-house PR desk from scratch, making placements at clients which included Coca Cola, Orange, St John’s Ambulance, Air France and The London Hilton. In 2006 she was headhunted to join Indigo Red’s management team and took responsibility for key accounts, business development and the PR and marketing of the company. She joined unicornjobs.com in September 2007 and leads our recruitment offering.
Heather McGregor
Heather joined Taylor Bennett in 2000 and is now the company’s principal shareholder. She graduated from Newcastle University in 1984 and then worked in corporate communications while studying for her MBA at the London Business School. Upon graduation she joined ABN AMRO’s equities division as an investment analyst and worked, over an eight-year period, in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. At Taylor Bennett, Heather focuses on investor relations and senior communications appointments. Heather has a PhD from the University of Hong Kong and is a visiting professor at Cass, City University Business School. She is also an experienced journalist and regularly contributes to national newspapers and magazines.
Caroline Moses
Caroline is a co-founder of UnLimited Media, and has led the ThreeWeeks student development programme since the late nineties, putting together and managing a team of over 120 students each year. She is also the Chief Sub-Editor on both ThreeWeeks and CMU, leading editorial style, and coaching the company’s journalists, both full time and interns. Caro is also an experienced actor, director and theatre producer, and directed and performed her own acclaimed play, ‘Fat Girl’, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, directed the Vague Ideas Theatre production of ‘Singular People’ (Scotsman Critics’ Choice) and co-produced a season of new plays at London’s Gielgud Theatre. She is also an accomplished writer and is currently finishing her first novel.
