Salaries in management consultancy

So here’s what you’ve been waiting for… what are they going to offer you for your hard work and commitment. From the consultants that Unicorn Jobs have spoken to, the consensus is that consultancy is a pretty well paid job… but you can make up your own mind…

  1. Graduate: You can expect to start on £24,000 to £35,000, but this will be dependent on who you work for, and where you are working. London generally has higher wages than the rest of the country, usually by around 12% to 15%. But it can be more expensive to live and work there.
  1. A couple of year’s experience: You can expect to be on about £30,000 to £55,000 – not bad for a 25 year old.
  1. Senior Consultants- you could be earning up to £60,000.
  1. Managing / principle Consultants- anything up to £100,000
  1. Partner / Director- anything from £60,000 to £250,000. Yes, that is a quarter of a million.

These figures are only an estimate, but they provide a good idea of what you will get. And don’t feel that, as a graduate, being a Partner/ Director is completely out of your reach… The great thing Management Consultancy is that you can move right the way up the ranks. Many Partners in both small and large firms started out as graduate consultants.

And remember, if your good, you can set up your own firm, and then the sky’s the limit… And think of all those cheap young graduates you can employ!
