Introducing our programme

Your challenge

Taking that first career step after graduating from college or university is an important moment in any person’s life.

The challenge is knowing what kind of career you want, what kind of company you want to work for, what kind of industry you will enjoy, and what kind of skills you have or need to acquire to stand out from the rest in the competitive graduate jobs market.

Many graduates find that their degree course, while being important groundwork for their career to come, does not provide any real insights into working life, or opportunities to experience first hand how one business or another really works.

And even those courses that include internships or work placements often aren’t able to offer graduates the experience of being involved as an active member of a real company.

Our solution

unicornjobs.com helps both recent graduates, and those in or about to embark on higher education, to meet the challenge of choosing and launching a career. It does this through a unique skills and career development programme – which provides one-to-one careers advice, practitioner-led skills workshops and the opportunity to work as a publisher, editor, journalist, marketer, web manager and administrator on the definitive graduate careers website.

This is a formal, paid-for programme. Interns will work full-time and are expected to make the same commitment as a permanent employee. Participants in the programme learn what it is like to work in a daily-deadline driven media company, developing transferable media and communication skills, while meeting and questioning leading practitioners from all business sectors. Meanwhile they will receive careers advice to identify their career interests, and prepare to enter the jobs market.
